Tt Nguyn n, commonly known as Tt, is the most important and widely celebrated holiday in Vietnam. Tt marks the beginning of the new year according to the lunisolar Vietnamese calendar which is based on the Chinese calendar. Tt is a time for families to come together, celebrate, and wish each other good luck and prosperity for the coming year. In 2025, Tt will be celebrated on February 12th.
Tt is a time for feasting, gift-giving, and visiting relatives and friends. Traditional Tt dishes include bnh chng (sticky rice cake), tht kho tu (braised pork belly), and canh kh qua (bitter melon soup). People also decorate their homes with flowers, lanterns, and kumquat trees. During Tt, many people also visit temples and pagodas to pray for good luck and prosperity.
