The Pro Football Hall of Fame, located in Canton, Ohio, recognizes and honors the greatest players, coaches, and contributors to the game of American football. Players are eligible for induction five years after their retirement from the NFL, and are selected by a panel of voters composed of sportswriters, broadcasters, and former players.
The Hall of Fame was founded in 1963, and the first class of inductees included 17 players and coaches. Since then, over 300 players have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, including some of the greatest names in NFL history, such as Jim Brown, Joe Montana, and Jerry Rice. The Hall of Fame also includes a museum that tells the story of the NFL and its players, and hosts a variety of events throughout the year.
